One of the most polarizing shows of the 2010s has to be Girls. Lena Dunham’s semi-autobiographical series about millennials struggling through adulthood wholeheartedly accomplished the goal of protagonist Hannah Horvath — it captured the voice of a generation. Many found that voice cloying, whiny, and entitled. But buried in the muck of Hannah and co.’s ridiculous behavior were nuggets of raw relatability. While Generation Z has Euphoria, we doubt that any other generation has a series so distinctly theirs as millennials have with Girls....

Global iPhone production reportedly set a new all-time record in the holiday quarter, Apple managing to balance huge demand for the iPhone 13 line-up with a well-managed supply chain operation to minimize the impact of component shortages. Two additional factors were at play for Apple, according to market intelligence company TrendForce … TrendForce tells us that iPhone production is estimated to have reached over 85M units. In addition to the demand for iPhone 13 models, the company said that Apple’s price reductions on older models helped....

On Monday, the tech giant said the public preview of Virtual Machine Threat Detection (VMTD) is now available in the Security Command Center (SCC). The SCC is a platform for detecting threats against cloud assets by scanning for security vulnerabilities and misconfigurations. Timothy Peacock, Product Manager at Google Cloud, said that as organizations continue to migrate to the cloud, workloads are often handled with VM-based architectures. Cloud environments are also a prime target for cyberattackers seeking out valuable data, as well as those intending to execute cryptocurrency mining malware....

According to the official Google blog iOS users will now be able to create, share, edit and format text in documents via the Google Drive app. Also, you’ll be able to see other collaborators instantly when they’re made. iOS users will also be able to create folders, move files between them and upload photos and video from their device. One of the most interesting announcements at Google’s Search-focused keynote in September was a big upgrade to Lens that lets you take a photo and ask questions about it. “Multisearch” in Google Lens is now available to beta test on Android and iOS. Multisearch is Google’s “entirely new way to search” that aims to address how you sometimes don’t “have all the words to describe what you were looking for.” It starts by taking a picture (or importing an existing one) with Google Lens and then swiping up on the results panel and tapping the new “Add to your search” button at the top....

We’ve recently obtained two iPhone 6 mockups in Gold and Space Gray and have put together a video comparing them to Apple’s iPhone 5s, fifth generation iPod touch, and the alleged iPhone 6 cases we’ve previously covered. We’ve seen quite a bit of news surrounding these dummy devices, but most of the time, the photos aren’t the best and we’re left wanting more information and details. After being an iOS web app for sometime now, Google has finally released a native Google Latitude client to the App Store and it’s free. Google Latitude is essentially a Google Map that has points with all your friend’s locations – seeing they like Google and being stalked – and works in the background. Google also promises some nice privacy features in the app but we’ll have to see how well they actually perform....

Get Out writer-director Jordan Peele is getting out of the acting business, choosing instead to focus on his work behind the camera. Without question, the mystery thriller Get Out is one of the biggest surprises of 2017, not only in terms of sheer box office magnitude – it made $254.6 million worldwide against a $4.5 million production budget – but in its highly successful awards season run. Netflix’s push to add more anime content to its already sizable library will soon include a new Ghost in the Shell series. In addition to the original manga, the popular franchise has already had numerous iterations, including animated films and TV shows, as well as the not-entirely-well-received live-action film starring Scarlett Johansson that was released in 2017. This new version will apparently makes use of “next-generation animation” to give the long-running franchise a little spit polish before it’s presented to the binge-watch crowd....

When Google introduced Priority inbox 7 months ago, it was a huge success. Since then, emails that Gmail discerns are urgent and important get set to an elevated inbox of their own. They also automatically receive an “Important” label that looks like a little yellow arrow icon. Today Gmail launched its newest lab feature, Smart Labels, which attempts to do the same thing on a more micromanaged scale. So far, it is groovy!...

Google has just updated its Google Drive app for iOS with a couple new features and performance enhancements. After adding support for opening links in native Google apps from the Chrome iOS app last week, it has now updated the Drive app with an option to open links within files in Chrome and Safari.
