The first trailer for Ghostbusters: Afterlife is here, and it took a cue from the Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailers. Following the example of franchises like Halloween and Terminator, Ghostbusters is going through a new phase with a sequel to the first two films. After Paul Feig’s 2016 reboot failed to cover its budget, the franchise was thought to be dead, until a new Ghostbusters film was announced in January 2019, with original director Ivan Reitman now serving as producer and his son, Jason Reitman, in charge of directing....

A cleverly-hidden detail in the credits of Godzilla: King of the Monsters suggests that the MonsterVerse is hiding a secret 18th Titan, and it may be a giant scorpion. It was revealed during the movie that 17 Titans exist somewhere on the planet. The actions of the eco-terrorists in the movie caused several of Titans to be unearthed, but there are still quite a few who have yet to appear on the big screen, and there may be even more that Monarch doesn’t even know about....

Text messaging on a phone goes way back to the 90s. Traditional messaging made its way into smartphones as well in the last decade. We have been witnessing a steady development in the ways we send or receive messages. Thankfully in recent years, we have applications like WhatsApp that has made possible the transfer of textual, audio, video messages to our contacts. The app, 2FA Authenticator, was discovered by the Pradeo security team. According to a cached version of the app’s page on Google Play, the developer said the software provided a “secure authenticator for your online services, while also including some features missing in existing authenticator apps, like proper encryption and backups.” Update 8.57GMT, 5/2: The malicious app, 2FA Authenticator, is not the same and should not be confused with 2FA Authenticator (2FAS), which is available on Google Play....

That trend only continues this year as well with Paramount’s new live-action adaptation of Ghost in the Shell. For the past few years, Google’s MVNO has long offered a built-in virtual private network as part of its monthly subscription. The Google Fi VPN is now rolling out to iPhone users. Update 8/21: As of this week, the Google Fi VPN is widely available for iPhone users. Once rolled out, there is a new “Privacy & section” menu under Phone Settings in the main Account tab. The VPN is enabled by toggling “Protect your online activity” at the top....

Last November, Google’s MVNO dropped the “Project” status and added support for many more phones. Google Fi is available on iPhones, but with limitations that require you to tweak some settings for MMS and no support for voicemail in the native Phone client. An update to the Google Fi app today adds visual voicemail to iOS. At launch, Google Fi subscribers could receive voicemail as text messages. This rudimentary method displayed transcripts in a standard conversation thread from your number....

Game of Thrones returns to screens for a seventh (and penultimate) season this summer, but that’s not the only thing on the horizon for fans of George R.R. Martin’s A Song Of Ice And Fire. HBO has revealed that they are discussing the possibility of a spinoff series, with a strong possibility of that being a prequel series, to come to TV after Game of Thrones wraps up in 2018. George R R Martin has also said that he believes that the next book in the series, The Winds Of Winter will be released sometime in 2017....

Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik might be back together after her recent split from Tyler Cameron. At the center of the speculation is a cryptic post straight from Hadid’s Instagram stories, as well as thinly veiled confirmation from Malik’s own mother. On December 29, Hadid posted, “Sunday in the kitchen about to marinate the chicken for one of my favorites!!! @mammamalik’s Chicken Curry Pasta Salad.” Without missing a beat, the former One Direction member’s mom, Trisha, posted a response video of Hadid being asked about her favorite restaurant....

The Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro are now widely available and shipping to early customers, but there’s a new bonus for iPhone users looking to switch as Google has boosted trade-in values. Qualcomm has secured another court victory over Apple this week, this time in Germany. A court has ruled that some iPhone models, featuring Intel modems, violate a Qualcomm patent. The court said that infringing iPhone models could no longer be sold in Germany, however the ban will not go into effect if Apple appeals. Apple is appealing the decision and is pulling iPhone 7 and iPhone 8 from store shelves in the meantime …...

Popular note-taking and annotation app GoodNotes has received a major update this week. Rather than update the existing GoodNotes 4 application, GoodNotes developers have released a completely new version of the app: GoodNotes 5, which is available for free to existing GoodNotes 4 users. GoodNotes 5 includes a handful of new features. First off, there’s a completely new folder system which allows you to create unlimited levels of folders and subfolders in the app to organize all of your notes....

Out with the old and in with the new. It is time for spring cleaning at Google and they are clearing out some of the older services to simplify things. Old unused Blogger accounts are on the chopping block, as well as the Google Video service that has already stopped allowing uploads over 2 years ago. Legacy Blogger accounts getting axed This is only regarding Blogger accounts that were made prior to 2006, AND those said accounts that haven’t logged in since 2007....

The tech giant said Google.org and Google employees are contributing $15 million in donations to aid relief efforts in Ukraine, with $5 million coming from the company’s employee matching campaign and another $5 million coming from grants. The company is also offering advertising credits for humanitarian and intergovernmental organizations working on aid and resettlement efforts. “We’ve launched an SOS alert on Search across Ukraine. When people search for refugee and evacuation information, they will see an alert pointing them to United Nations resources for refugees and asylum seekers....

Back in July, Google’s storage subscription service made phone backups free on Android and announced plans for iOS. The next move for Google One is including a VPN on higher storage tiers.
