Good Girls is a television show that started coming on NBC in February of 2018. The second season recently dropped on Netflix, and Season 3, which will be made up of 16 episodes, is going to premiere on February 16, 2020. Mark those calendars!

This exciting series focuses on three mothers who go to some extreme lengths in order to protect and provide for their families. Before the new season starts up, let’s review the other shows and films that have featured these actors and actresses - stars such as Christina Hendricks, Retta, Mae Whitman, and Manny Montana - over the years.

Christina Hendricks

On this show, Christina Hendricks plays Elizabeth “Beth” Boland, a mother with four kids who is married to a man who cheated on her. In order to make sure her family is taken care of, she ropes her friends into doing something wild and crazy… which leads to more wild and crazy moments. Before falling into and falling in love with criminal activities, though, this actress was seen on several other popular shows and films.

Her most notable role was portraying Joan Holloway on Mad Men. She was also in Drive in 2011, as well as The Strangers: Prey at Night in 2018.

Retta

Retta is another main character within this series, as she plays Ruby Hill, a woman who works at a donut shop, who has two kids (one of whom has a kidney disease) and who is married to a cop. This star, too, has been seen in several big things over the years.

For instance, Retta voiced Maggie the Cheerleader in The Lego Ninjago Movie from 2017. She appeared in shows like It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce. And, of course, she was in Parks and Recreation as Donna Meagle from 2009 to 2015. Treat yo’self!

Mae Whitman

Annie Marks is Beth’s younger sister and the mother of a transgender child named Sadie, and Annie is played by an actress who has been in the business since she was a child, Mae Whitman.

Back in the day, Whitman appeared in movies like Independence Day and Hope Floats. She has been on other successful TV shows, such as Arrested Development and Parenthood. She was in more recent movies like Scott Pilgrim vs. the World and The Perks of Being a Wallflower. And she has voiced animated characters, such as Rose/Huntsgirl from American Dragon: Jake Long and Tinker Bell in a franchise known as Disney Fairies.

Reno Wilson

A supporting character on Good Girls is Ruby’s husband, Stanley Hill, a cop who is played by Reno Wilson. A spoiler alert about him would be that he finds out what his wife is up to, he understands why she is doing it, and he gets involved, as well. He would literally do anything for his family… like get locked up.

Wilson’s most notable past roles include portraying Howard on The Cosby Show, Carl McMillan on Mike & Molly and voicing characters in the Transformers movies.

Manny Montana

A vital part of the drama of the series is Rio, a bad guy who gets these good girls involved in some interesting extracurricular activities. This complex man, who is successful within his line of work and who has a child of his own, is played by an actor named Manny Montana.

Throughout his career, Montana has appeared on well-known television shows like ER, CSI: NY, Grimm and Lucifer, and in 2018, he was in The Mule as Axl.

Matthew Lillard

As mentioned, Beth is married to a man who cheated on her, and some of his bad decisions led to her making the choices that got her to where she is today. He is a very fun and caring dad, though! And this man, Dean Boland, is played by Matthew Lillard, an actor who has been entertaining fans for years.

His most notable roles were in Scream as Stu Macher, in Without a Paddle as Jerry Conlaine and in Scooby-Doo and Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed as Shaggy Rogers.

Zach Gilford

Annie got pregnant at a young age, and Sadie’s father is Gregg, who is portrayed by Zach Gilford. He then married a woman named Nancy, and these two have a son, Dakota, together. And in Season 2, he started hooking up with Annie again, and Nancy found out about it.

Before getting this part on Good Girls, Gilford was on TV shows such as Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Friday Night Lights and Grey’s Anatomy, and he played Shane in The Purge: Anarchy from 2014.

Sally Pressman

Speaking of Nancy… This character is played by an actress named Sally Pressman, and she has been seen on some pretty popular works over the years. Though, we wonder if any of her past roles have been as memorable as that birthing scene from last season? Wow.

For instance, she was in My Best Friend’s Girl as Courtney in 2008. She was in Scandal as Candace Marcus in 2013. And she was in 13 Reasons Why as Chloe’s mother in 2018.

Allison Tolman

The stars of the show run into more complications when they meet Allison Tolman’s character, Mary Pat. This woman is a single mother who is just trying to get by, but she does not always make the best decisions. At least it makes for more thrills for fans to enjoy, right?

Previously, Tolman was on works like Prison Break, The Mindy Project, The Gift, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The Twilight Zone and, of course, Fargo as Deputy Molly Solverson.

David Hornsby

Last but not least, there is Leslie “Boomer” Peterson. He is Annie’s boss. He ends up with Mary Pat at one point. And he, too, brings about more drama for the girls and for the show, because, let’s be honest… He is the worst! And this character is played by David Hornsby.

Hornsby has also been on several other series and in several movies, as well.. In 2001, he appeared in Pearl Harbor. In 2004, he was seen in Christmas With the Kranks. Since 2006, he has been Matthew “Rickety Cricket” Mara on It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. In 2016, he had a part on New Girl. And he will be in the upcoming series Mythic Quest.
