Bea Arthur accidentally dressed up as various Star Wars characters during her stint as Dorothy Zbornak in The Golden Girls. Throughout the seven-season comedy, fans have seen her and the other three ladies - Rose Nylund (Betty White), Blanche Devaraux (Rue McClanahan) and Sophia Petrillo (Estelle Getty) dress up for various occasions. However, one fan noticed that Dorothy may have mined his sartorial choices from characters inhabiting the space soap opera.

As the gang’s resident sarcastic golden girl, Zbornak has among the best lines from the NBC classic sitcom. In terms of aesthetics, however, her style is more difficult to describe. Rose is known for 50s cut mid-dresses, while Blanche is the more fashion forward with body-hugging dresses. Sophia, on the other hand, pretty much dressed like an elder Italian lady. While it’s quite put a finger on Dorothy’s taste in clothes, it seems that her main place of style inspiration is Star Wars.

One fan from Twitter with the handle Dinosaur Dracula compiled some of Dorothy’s best outfits and partner them up with characters from the galaxy far, far away to prove the aforementioned point. The collection features the golden girl resembling a collection of Star Wars players - from the prequels’ Jar Jar Binks to the sequels’ Supreme Leader Snoke. Check out the thread below:

What makes this compilation much funnier is the fact that before she was Dorothy Zbornak in The Golden Girls, Arthur actually appeared in the infamous Star Wars Holiday Special in 1978. The TV project which is now being fondly remembered was directed by Steve Binder and is considered as the first spin-off from the franchise. Set after the events of original film from 1977 and its sequel, The Empire Strikes Back, Arthur played Ackmena who ran the Mos Eisley cantina in Tatooine - whose image was also included in the thread. She sings the song “Good Night, But Not Goodbye” set to the “Cantina Band” theme when her announcement of last call was ignored by the pub’s patrons.

Given all this, Bea Arthur is technically part of the Star Wars family - a detail typically overshadowed by her glorious stint in The Golden Girls. While fans never got to see Ackmena following her appearance in the Holiday Special, perhaps a small reference can be possible in case The Mandalorian creator Jon Favreau is given the go ahead to follow up the critically-panned TV event. The Iron Man and Chef filmmaker has been vocal about wanting to have another crack at the often laughed at project.
