Set photos from Godzilla vs. Kong reveal two key characters will be employees of Monarch. In Legendary’s MonsterVerse, Monarch is the top secret organization that specializes in the creatures roaming the planet. With two of the most prominent facing off in the near future, it appears Alexander Skarsgård and Eiza González will be working for them

The MonsterVerse has already had two solid entries so far in 2014’s Godzilla and 2015’s Kong: Skull Island. Next year sees the arrival of the first true sequel Godzilla: King of the Monsters, which is now completely done with all facets of post-production. The Millie Bobby Brown-led sequel will play a large part in setting the universe up for Godzilla and Kong to meet the following year. Adam Wingard is directing the crossover event film, and just started production in down in Hawaii. It didn’t take long for filming to reveal new details either.

Just Jared shared the first set photos from Godzilla vs. Kong that showed two of the stars filming for the first time. Recently announced additions Alexander Skarsgård and Eiza González were both spotted shooting scenes together in Honolulu. The two were both spotted in gold and black jumpsuits, and it’s the logo on their shoulders that will be most important to fans of this cinematic universe. The official Monarch logo is featured on both shoulders of their jumpsuits, which confirms that they are working for the mysterious organization.

Although both Skarsgård and González were previously announced to be part of the cast, every new addition for Godzilla vs. Kong came without character details. This has made it impossible to know how the various cast members will work within the larger story, so getting some clarity on Skarsgård and González’s involvement is welcomed. Based on the jumpsuits, small debris around them, and the cut on Skarsgård’s forehead, they may have crash landed at this location. Skarsgård is shown beating up another Monarch employee, which could be out of frustration for poor piloting or could even signal that these two will turn against Monarch.

If both of these characters do stay faithful to Monarch, then they could play a big part in the group’s actual role in the film. According to the official synopsis for Godzilla vs. Kong, the organization “embarks on a perilous mission into uncharted terrain and unearths clues to the Titans’ origins.” Even though filming is taking place in Hawaii, for the purposes of the actual movie, it’s unlikely that this Monarch crew is actually there. This could be a return to Skull Island perhaps, or even another monster-filled location that was previously undiscovered. As more cast members begin filming, it’ll be fun to see which ones join Skarsgård and González as part of Team Monarch and which ones will oppose them. And with this heavy-hitting cast, Godzilla vs. Kong has plenty of talented actors to throw into the mix.
