At Saturday’s San Diego Comic-Con panel, Godzilla: King of the Monsters director Michael Dougherty teased the possibility that the movie could include more monsters beyond the ones already confirmed. The next upcoming film in Legendary and Warner Bros.’ MonsterVerse, King of the Monsters brings back the titular monster along with three other classic kaiju: Rodan, Mothra and King Ghidorah.

Fans have been aware that Rodan, Mothra and Ghidorah would be making their MonsterVerse debut ever since the three were teased during a post-credits stinger at the end of Kong: Skull Island. Thanks to Saturday’s trailer drop, audiences now know what kind of epic kaiju action is in store when this clash of titans goes down. In the new film, Earth is in serious trouble thanks to a monster-related calamity, and the only hope is for humanity to call forth Earth’s defenders, who are literally called the Titans.

During Saturday’s Comic-Con panel, King of the Monsters director Michael Dougherty tantalized the crowd with hints that Godzilla, Mothra, Rodan and Ghidorah won’t be the only four Titans who show up in the movie. Indeed, the trailer indicates that Titans may be hidden all over the world and their total combined power will be needed to defeat the threat that is tearing earth apart.

The possibility of multiple Titans has already been teased by the mysterious King of the Monsters tie-in website called MonarchSciences.com, which on its home page invites visitors to help Monarch “discover Titans” and “defend the world.” By clicking “explore,” website visitors go to a map of the Earth with buttons over certain locations around the globe. Three of these buttons glow red and when clicking on them visitors receive information about Rodan, Mothra and “Monster Zero” (who is actually King Ghidorah). But there are also seventeen other buttons scattered around earth that the site hints could be the locations of more Titans. Clicking on these buttons does nothing as of now, but certainly they will activate over the coming weeks, giving fans more clues about which surprise monsters to look out for.

While the kaiju are certainly the main attractions in Godzilla 2, the human cast is pretty interesting as well, with Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown heading things up. Vera Farmiga co-stars as Brown’s mother, who may have discovered a way to control the monsters (though the trailer makes it look like no one has much control of anything). Previous MonsterVerse movies already brought plenty of carnage courtesy of Godzilla and King Kong, plus the other underground denizens of Skull Island, but it appears Godzilla: King of the Monsters will outdo those films by a wide margin. And along the way, the movie will also spread some bread crumbs to help set up the ultimate monster showdown in Godzilla vs. Kong.
