As Sony’s God of War dominates the gaming charts and the MCU’s Avengers: Infinity War takes over at the box office, eagle-eyed fans have noticed the two worlds colliding in a crossover event for the ages thanks to the Infinity Gauntlet making its way into Kratos’ possession.

Since Sony’s Santa Monica Studios unveiled the eighth God of War to rave reviews, gamers have been slowly plodding through the frozen backdrop of Midgard and uncovering the various Valkyrie locations, hidden axe pommels, and secret endings to God of War. However, just when everyone thought there are no more surprises to come from Cory Barlog and his team, the best game in the series drops a well-timed MCU Easter Egg.

Posted on Reddit by user Moxxxxxi, fandom has gone into overdrive that Kratos can get his hands on the Infinity Gauntlet. Following Sindi’s “Family Business” quest, players can uncover a talisman known as the Shattered Gauntlet of Ages. The in-game description of the Talisman may sound familiar to those who have already made it to theaters to watch the Russo brothers’ supersized superhero ensemble:

It promises to be no walk in the park, but those who want to take on an extra challenge can go on the hunt for some mythical gems to pop in the Talisman and attempt to become their very own Mad Titan.

“An ancient relic of Hel deemed too powerful to remain whole, fragments of its former strength lie scattered throughout the realms.”

While the history of Marvel comics is littered with many Infinity Stones, Infinity War and God of War focus on just six. Screen Rant won’t spoil whether Thanos manages to get his giant hands on all the Infinity Stones in the movie, but it is slightly easier for gamers to hunt down all six in God of War. Interestingly, the gems found in both worlds can be seen as parallels of each other:

  • Andvari’s Soul - Soul Stone Njord’s Temporal Stone - Time Stone Eye of the Outer Realm - Space Stone Ivaldi’s Corrupted Mind - Mind Stone Asgard’s Shard of Existence - Reality Stone Muspelheim Eye of Power - Power Stone

Thankfully, it doesn’t look like the Ghost of Sparta is planning on snapping his fingers to wipe out half the galaxy, however, gamers can still expect a major boost from the Gauntlet. Sadly, unlike Josh Brolin’s Thanos and his six-socket Gauntlet, the Shattered Gauntlet of Ages can only house three stones at a time. It is a case of personal taste for which combination of cataclysmic costume jewelry suits each individual gamer, however, having three stones equipped will shoot a Thanos-colored beam of purple energy from Kratos’ fist.

The use of Infinity Stones is the second tie to the MCU in as many weeks. God of War’s super secret ending teased a sequel game with the last-minute arrival of Thor. Sadly, it wasn’t Chris Hemsworth voicing the video game God of Thunder, but it was still a great way round off an already amazing game. Now, as the quest for the Infinity Stones makes its way to Midgard, God of War fans have a whole new quest that will have them reaching for that Leviathan Axe and heading back for more.
