The theatrical release of Avengers: Infinity War is mere weeks away, and some fans are not taking any risks when it comes to viewing the movie with their loved ones. Fans have been waiting for 10 years and 18 films to see this culmination of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The studio has been quick to thank the fans for their support over the years, paying homage through promo videos for the upcoming film.

Fans are eagerly awaiting the Avengers teaming up with the Guardians of the Galaxy to take down the Mad Titan Thanos (Josh Brolin). From a fight between Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) and Thor (Chris Hemsworth), to the heroes trading barbs in the trailer and the introduction of Peter Dinklage to the MCU, there are plenty of things to look forward to seeing. Hopefully even Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) fans will be happy with his storyline in the film, despite his absence from the marketing.

Going to watch Avengers: Infinity War will no doubt be an exciting and emotional experience for fans who have waited to see their favorite heroes fighting (and potentially dying) together on the big screen. However, some fans are taking it a little more seriously than others. Twitter user @TseStanley23 has shared a text of a boyfriend telling his girlfriend what is expected of her should she come watch the new Avengers film with him. Rules include: “No holding hands, it’ll distract me and I’ll miss things I’ve waited 10 years to see” and “If a main character dies, we cry together, if you ain’t crying you walking home.” You can see the rest for yourself below.

Whether or not this conversation is real, it’s sure to have a lot of Marvel fans saying, “It me”. And while these requests seem a little extreme, it is certainly not unreasonable to want a good theatrical experience when watching such a highly anticipated film. You can only watch a movie for the first time once and a bad audience - or distracting partner - can ruin that. Millions of people have waited a long time to see this film, and are sure to be on edge with anticipation. Marvel is even going out of their way to make sure fans stay unspoiled going into the film, doubling down on what a big deal it will be.

Based on some of the exaggerated verbiage, surely the conversation was in jest, but hopefully the person’s partner understands the importance of Infinity War (or they are likely to be walking home after the film). The passion and love Marvel fans have for these movies just goes to show what devotion the studio has created. Hopefully Avengers: Infinity War will live up to the 10 years of hype and not crush fans’ hearts too badly with the deaths of all their favorite characters.
