Gilbert Gottfried is best known for his signature screeching voice, but what movies and TV shows has the actor and comedian been in? Like many stand-up comedians, Gilbert Gottfried transitioned into television via Saturday Night Live which hired him as a cast member in 1980. A cameo role on a 1987 episode of The Cosby Show followed and that same year Gottfried landed a small role in the movie sequel Beverly Hills Cop II playing Sidney Bernstein, the neurotic accountant of main villain Maxwell Dent (Jürgen Prochnow).

Gottfried played adoption agent Igor Peabody in the critically panned but commercially successful comedy film Problem Child in 1990 and reprised his role in its sequels Problem Child 2 and Problem Child 3: Junior In Love. He also had a three-episode stint as attorney Oscar Brown on NBC’s legal sitcom Night Court and later had a two-episode cameo role as a police sergeant in The Cosby Show spinoff A Different World.

Disney fans will recognize Gilbert Gottfried best as the voice behind Iago, Jafar’s loud-mouthed parrot sidekick in the 1992 animation Aladdin. Gottfried went on to voice Iago in a ton of other Disney properties including the straight-to-video movies Aladdin And The Return Of Jafar and Aladdin And The King Of Thieves in addition to the Aladdin animated series that ran for three seasons between 1994 and 1995. He also voiced Iago in the Square Enix game franchise Kingdom Hearts but was replaced by Alan Tudyk in Disney’s 2019 live-action remake of Aladdin.

Gottfried’s distinctive voice has led to plenty of voiceover roles over the course of his career. He provided the voice for evil dentist Dr. Bender and his son Wendell in the Nickelodeon animated series The Fairly OddParents and has voiced cyborg bird Digit LeBoid in the educational PBS cartoon Cyberchase since 2002. Gottfried was also the voice behind impish DC villain Mr. Mxyzptlk in the shows Superman: The Animated Series and Justice League Action, and voiced the alien Kraang Subprime in Nickelodeon’s animated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series.

Beyond his voiceover roles, Gilbert Gottfried appeared in two season 13 episodes of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (“Lost Traveler” and “Theater Tricks”) as sarcastic NYPD tech specialist Leo Gerber, and played Today news correspondent Ron McDonald and his father Rand McDonald in the so-bad-it’s-good movie franchise Sharknado. More recently, Gilbert Gottfried starred as Murray – the weird uncle of main character Christopher (Joey Morgan) – in the Shudder comedy-horror reboot series Critters: A New Binge.
