But how does this merchant work and where is he located? In this guide, we’ll show you everything you need to know about the Black Dye Merchant in Ghost of Tsushima.
Black Dye Merchant’s Location
Unlike the White Dye Merchant, who you can visit very early on in Act 1, the Black Dye Merchant isn’t available until you reach Act 2. You’ll need to free Lord Shimura in the “A New Horizon” mission to access the middle part of Tsushima Island called Toyotama.
The Black Dye Merchant is located in a small cave in Kawamata Village, in the middle of Toyotama on the east side. When you approach, you’ll likely have to defeat some patrolling Mongols. Use the image above for guidance.
Enter the cave and you’ll be able to speak with the Black Dye Merchant. Remember, once you’ve located him, you can fast travel to his location from then on.
Purpose of the Black Dye Merchant
The Black Dye Merchant sells gear that is dyed black, such as bows and different armor. Some items are inaccessible until you complete certain missions, which are notated next to that item within the merchant’s list of wares.
Like the White Dye items, you’ll need to pay for Black Dye items and armor sets in flowers instead of the usual currency.
Finding Flowers to Craft Black Dye Equipment
Flowers are a common resource found throughout Tsushima Island. Always make sure you pick them up by pressing “R2” as you come across them while exploring or traveling between objectives.
You can find a larger supply of flowers in the Shinto Shrines, so keep that in mind if you’re having trouble getting your hands on them naturally.
There are Merchants who can dye your equipment other colors, as well. You can find them on the map as denoted by their ability to sell Vanity Gear.
