Ghidorah has arrived in a new Godzilla: King of the Monsters clip. The monster blockbuster finally releases tonight. Marketing has been pulling out all the stops these past few months with the final Godzilla: King of the Monsters teaser released last week.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters is one of 2019’s biggest movies. In a recent Fandango survey, the film ranked third in most anticipated summer movies, beating out films like The Lion King and Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw. Since the original Godzilla: King of the Monsters Comic-Con trailer last year, fans have been awaiting the biggest battles in the cinema with the Godzilla sequel. The film is grabbing other iconic Japanese monsters, including Rodan, Mothra, and Ghidorah. Critic responses went live two days ago, and they were on the mixed side. However, early reactions previously were very positive.

A new clip for Godzilla: King of the Monsters has been released by Furious Trailer. In it, Ghidorah takes notice of Millie Bobby Brown’s character, Madison, who takes refuge inside a building. The video is three minutes, but the clip is just the first 40 seconds.

Those who watched the trailers will recognize this scene. We see Madison atop a roof, watching an unnatural storm take place. She retreats inside, and that’s when Ghidorah arrives outside. Unfortunately for her, he takes notice of her from the window (this scene was seen briefly in the first trailer), and then unleashes his gravity beam on the building. The clip works in establishing Ghidorah as an evil threat, taking notice of people and wanting them dead.

Historically, Ghidorah has been portrayed as a ruthless antagonist. In his original appearance, it was said that he destroyed the civilization on Venus. In another notable appearance, this time in the film Rebirth of Mothra 3, Ghidorah actually rounds up children from Japan to absorb their life force. In Godzilla: Final Wars, a new type of Ghidorah called Keizer Ghidorah defeated Godzilla, and almost completely absorbed his energy. In Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Ghidorah appears to be accurately adapted as a powerful, evil force, that even Godzilla is going to have trouble with.

With so many monsters, and based on fan reception, it sounds like Godzilla: King of the Monsters is the most explosive MonsterVerse film to date. It remains to be seen if the film can start strong, and continue strong in the movie theater with competition coming in the next couple of weeks. Even if it ends up doing poorly, Godzilla vs. Kong will still be releasing in March 2020. The future is uncertain after that. For now, if you’re into giant monsters, it sounds like Godzilla: King of the Monsters is worth seeing on the big screen over the weekend.
