Google is all set to take Augmented Reality one step higher with the latest version of ARCore. Google ARCore v1.2 is now available. It brings some really new features indicating the continuous enhancement Google is performing to help developers build Apps that support AR. These Apps aim to be more collaborative and immersive. The new features include Cloud Anchors that enables a collaborative AR experience. This will include like redecorating the users’ home, playing games or painting a community mural....

…Use Safari! (lol,) Google Chrome 39 had started to crash for me as soon as I updated to 10.10.2 Beta. I tried all of the normal things (trashing Google prefs, using Canary, etc etc). Nothing worked except downgrading back to Mac OS 10.10.1 stable. Google has reportedly hired three former Assassin’s Creed developers to make Google Stadia-exclusive games. Google first announced their new game development company, the Stadia Games and Entertainment division, back in March 2019, pointing to interest in creating first-party titles. After a long period of speculation, hype, and doubt, Google’s Stadia Pro release finally arrived in mid-November. The game streaming service was met with a mostly negative reception. Google Stadia reviews found it lacked important features and a compelling reason to make the switch from traditional consoles - and in some cases, it just didn’t work at all....

In addition to YouTube Music, Google today is bringing iOS 14 home screen widgets to Photos. It delightfully lets you see “memories” every time you unlock your iPhone or iPad. The “Your memories” widget is available in the standard three sizes (2×2, 4×2, and 4×4) and shows “recently highlighted photos & videos, and special moments from previous years.” It’s basically the stories-esque carousel that Google added last year to the top of the Photos app....

With today’s update, Google Maps now includes a “match” feature that will help suggest new restaurants it thinks you will enjoy… With the match feature, Google Maps will use the data it has available on you, such as other places you’ve visited and interests you provide, to predict if you would like a particular restaurant....

. Google Plus (iTunes) iOS users will see a big update in their App Store today with lots of new features and improvements that were detailed earlier this week. Most notable is the ability to start and join video hangouts from a mobile device. In brief testing on both an iPhone 4 and an Android device on Wi-Fi, the Video conferencing worked great. It should work over 3 or 4G but the results obviously won’t be as good....

German antitrust proceedings against Apple have been initiated by the Bundeskartellamt (Federal Cartel Office). The main focus is on the App Store, but the competition regulator is also examining the broader impact of the Apple ecosystem, such as pre-installed apps and the treatment of services that compete with Apple (like Spotify). “CISA has added 95 new vulnerabilities to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, based on evidence of active exploitation. These types of vulnerabilities are a frequent attack vector for malicious cyber actors and pose significant risk to the federal enterprise,” the agency said. Lena Dunham’s semi-autobiographical HBO series featured twentysomething aspiring writer Hannah Horvath and her friends navigating life, love, and exorbitant rent prices in Brooklyn. The series was praised for its warts-and-all portrait of millennials in the 2010s, but there were times when the show’s brilliance was overshadowed by the shockingly entitled behavior of its characters. Between this and Girls’ tendency to veer off the beaten path in terms of splitting up the characters and sending them on adventures away from their NYC home-base, the show’s tone felt inconsistent at times....
