Today during its Morning with Google+ event, Google made a point of noting that it is attempting to “revolutionize the field of photography” with its various Google+ tools and services, but admitted that it’s slightly behind with its iOS app. On mobile devices, Google has always done full-size backups and background sync for Android devices, but it announced today that those features would soon roll out to the iOS version of Google+ in a future update....

Last month, Google announced that Lens — its set of visual search and analysis tools — is coming to iOS. First introduced at last year’s Google I/O developer conference, it will be rolling out over the coming weeks to all users using Google Photos. Google Lens, like Assistant, is an extension of Google Search. It can analyze what’s in an image and provide relevant actions and search results. For example, when analyzing a picture with a phone number or address, it will provide suggestions to call and get directions....

How does it work? The new Google Maps preview feature is available in the Labs section of Gmail settings. The quickest way there is to press the green lab icon from your Gmail account. Scroll down through the many features listed until you get to Google Maps previews in mail. Click Enable and then save changes. Now when you get an email containing an address Gmail will automatically pull up its location in Google maps and provide you with the option to preview it at the bottom of your email....

Director Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters is a “hard reboot” (read: complete fresh start) for the 1980s-born supernatural horror/comedy franchise, though you would be forgiven for thinking it’s a “soft reboot” or semi-sequel (a la such recent movies as Jurassic World and Creed) to the previous Ghostbusters films. Google’s Maps app for iPhone and iPad got a small but useful update on the App Store today. The latest version of the Google Maps iOS app now includes a couple of handy features. First up, and undoubtedly the most useful for drivers is the up-to-date gas prices in the US and Canada. The feature was included in the Android version of Google’s app a couple of months ago and lets users check nearby gas stations to see which has the most affordable prices....

Google has just pushed an update for the official Google+ app for iOS, bringing with it support for iPad and iPod touch, two devices the app was previously unavailable for, among a few other features including aggregated circle add notifications, huddle settings, and the usual “Performance and stability improvements”. Unfortunately, this iPad support is not completely native as the app will just be a pixel-doubled iPhone application. This choice by Google is still better than no iPad support at all, though....

George A. Romero, the iconic filmmaker who effectively created the zombie genre with his 1968 black-and-white film classic Night of the Living Dead, has passed away at the age of 77. In a statement provided to the Los Angeles Times, Romero’s longtime production partner Peter Grunwald said that Romero died following a “brief but aggressive battle with lung cancer.” According to his family, Romero died while listening to the soundtrack of one of his favorite films, The Quiet Man, with his wife, Suzanne Desrocher Romero, and daughter, Tina Romero, by his side....

Goldman Sachs has issued another statement on the ongoing allegations of gender bias in Apple Card credit limits. In a new statement this evening, Carey Halio, retail bank CEO of Goldman Sachs, said that the bank will reevaluate credit limits following the allegations. In the statement, Halio emphasized that Goldman Sachs is not aware of your “gender or marital status during the Apple Card application process.” The CEO also noted that Goldman Sachs worked with a third-party to review its “credit decisioning process to guard against unintended biases and outcomes....
